Installing Jenkins on Ubuntu! \u00a0This tutorial will take you through the basic steps of installing Jenkins on an Ubuntu. Before we begin, it\u2019s important to know about Jenkins:<\/p>\n

What is Jenkins?<\/b><\/p>\n

Jenkins <\/b>is a continuous integration automation server, which is an open-source, self-contained and can be used to automate all tasks related to building, testing and deploying or delivering the application.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pre-requisites:<\/strong>
\nFor installation of Jenkins, following things you\u2019ll need:
\n1). A machine with:<\/strong>
\n\u25e6 RAM:256 MB, but more than 512MB is recommended
\n\u25e6 Drive space: 10 GB minimum<\/p>\n

2). The following software must be installed in the machine:<\/strong>
\n\u25e6 Java JDK 8 (Java Development Kit)<\/p>\n

Here are the steps to install Jenkins on a Linux(Ubuntu):<\/b><\/p>\n

Step – 1:<\/b> First, add the Jenkins repository key to the system. After adding key, you will get the `OK` status as shown below:<\/span><\/p>\n

wget -q -O – https:\/\/pkg.jenkins.io\/debian-stable\/jenkins.io.key | <\/span>sudo apt-key add –<\/span><\/p>\n

Step – 2: <\/b>Next, append the Debian package repository address to the server\u2019s <\/span>sources.list<\/b>:<\/span><\/p>\n

echo deb http:\/\/pkg.jenkins.io\/debian-stable binary\/ | sudo tee \/etc\/apt\/sources.list.d\/jenkins.list<\/span><\/p>\n

Step – 3: <\/b>Now to use new repository, you will need to update the system first and then Install Jenkins by using the following commands:<\/span><\/p>\n

sudo apt-get update<\/p>\n

sudo apt-get install jenkins<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Step – 4:<\/strong> To Start Jenkins use following commands :<\/span><\/p>\n

sudo systemctl start jenkins<\/p>\n

sudo systemctl enable jenkins<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Step – 5: <\/b>To open Jenkins enter the below link in the browser (Jenkins will install on port 8080 by default):<\/span><\/p>\n

Note: If Jenkin’s page is not opening, then you need to restart the system.<\/b><\/p>\n

Step – 6:<\/b> \u201c<\/span>Unlock Jenkins<\/b>\u201d page will display after entering URL and will ask to enter administrator password:<\/span><\/p>\n

Step – 7:<\/b> To get the password use the below given command:<\/span><\/p>\n

sudo cat \/var\/lib\/jenkins\/secrets\/initialAdminPassword<\/b><\/p>\n

Step – 8:<\/b> Copy paste the password in \u201c<\/span>Administrator password field<\/b>\u201d and then click on the <\/span>Continue button<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step – 9:<\/b> \u201c<\/span>Customize Jenkins<\/b>\u201d option will display. Click on \u201c<\/span>Select plugins to install<\/b>\u201d option to get the plugin installed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step – 10:<\/b> Install all the necessary plugins to use <\/span>Jenkins<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step – 11: <\/b>After completion of installation process, Account setup page will open.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Step – 12:<\/b> You have to enter your valid credentials to create a new account. After filling all the details, click on the \u201cSave and Finish\u201d button.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step – 13: <\/b>Once your Jenkins account is created you can use Jenkins by clicking on \u201c<\/span>Start Using Jenkins<\/b>\u201d button.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step – 14:<\/strong> After successful completion of Jenkins setup wizard, you will be redirected to the Jenkins dashboard.<\/span><\/p>\n

Well, after successful installation of Jenkins on an Ubuntu, it’s mandatory to go through “Settings” to set Jenkins.<\/b><\/p>\n

Step – 1:<\/strong> Enter Jenkins URL in a browser, the Jenkins login page will open as shown in the image:<\/span><\/p>\n

Step – 2:<\/b> Enter your valid credentials to login in Jenkins.<\/span><\/p>\n

Username: Your Jenkins account username<\/p>\n

Password: Your Jenkins account password<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Step – 3:<\/b> If valid credentials are entered, then Jenkins dashboard will display.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step – 4<\/b>: To use Jenkins you need to go through jenkins installation and configuration\u00a0settings :<\/span><\/p>\n

4.1 Click on Manage Jenkins<\/p>\n

4.2 Click on configure system<\/p>\n
